There isn’t much to say when you take a moment to truly look around at your life and recognize the relentless path of destruction you’ve been on. As I reflect on my past, I can see beyond the few accomplishments and feel the weight of the many people who were left worse off by having crossed my path.

I know that there has been good in my life, and that I’ve played a part in bringing some of that good into the world. Yet, there are so many moments when I can’t help but imagine that if I were friends with myself, I would feel profoundly let down.

Cause I’m a letdown, don’t put your faith in me
I’m a burnout in the third-degree
I’ll get your hopes sky-high, then I’ll kill ’em dead
So expect the worst, then a little less

I am sure it will be fine, but there is nothing worse than realizing that the people in your life are worse off because of you.
